Battery Boosted Charging

Being early EV adopters, we are used to hearing all the arguments why electric vehicles can’t work. One of the popular claims is that our grid cannot handle it. Of course, that makes sense, it would be so expensive to add all the high voltage wiring to carry all the peak power to remote locations! And how about the highways? It’s not like gas stations have electricity capacity to spare. They have just enough to power the ice-cream freezers and coffee machines.

That’s where battery powered charging comes to play. Why not just install a battery as a part (or next to) your high power charging stations? Just keep refilling that battery slowly, and when someone comes in their brand new shiny car with 80+ kWh battery, give them the ultra fast charging experience they expect. They will barely be able to finish their burger and coffee before the charge session is done.

But you might say, come on guys, battery in a charger? I’m making a charger to charge batteries, why do I need to charge batteries in order to charge batteries?! Well, it’s not such a strange concept. Installing high voltage lines and transformers is expensive. Easily more expensive than the chargers themselves. Not to mention, your local gas station also utilizes a reservoir under it, so you fill your petrol tank from a petrol tank.

Alright, now that we got the basics covered - ADVANTICS offers all the building blocks you would ever need to develop a battery assisted charger. We even support a possibility to make the grid side connection bidirectional, just in case you want to earn some extra money helping stabilize the grid, when the charger is not fully utilized.
